Irrigation Sprinkler System | Frequently Asked Questions

What is the first step to install an irrigation system?

The first thing required to get started on your new irrigation system is to call diggers hotline and have them come out and mark/flag all underground utilities, fiber optic, cables, etc. This is a free service. Please visit Diggers Hotline website or Call (800) 242-8511

Is the homeowner responsible for any plumbing needed?

Yes. You will need to contact your preferred certified plumber and have them install a water line to the exterior of the house where your irrigation system will connect. Most plumbers should know how to handle this request. We can recommend a plumber if you need.

How much does it cost for the plumber to install water line?

Depending on your plumber and location of water line to exterior, the cost could range from $200-$700.

Should I have a separate water meter installed for my irrigation system?
You should consider having a separate meter / deduct meter installed by your local utilities company. This meter allows the utility company to measure the water used by your sprinkler system so you don’t have to pay a sewer charge on that water. There is typically a one time installation charge and a monthly rental fee of the meter; however, the sewer charge savings will usually be worth it. Please refer to your local utilities company for more info or questions.
How much does it cost to install a sprinkler system?

A professionally installed irrigation system for a typical ¼-acre lot is approximately $3,000 to $4,000. Price may vary depending on number of heads or system upgrades like a Wi-Fi Controller.

How long do irrigation / sprinkler systems last?

A professionally and properly installed irrigation system with high quality materials and parts along with regular maintenance in the spring and fall should last 20 years before needing any costly repairs.

How much is a sprinkler system for a half acre? One acre?

A professionally and properly installed irrigation system for a half acre lot is approximately $3,500-$5,500 and a one acre lot is approximately $6,000-$8,000

How deep does a sprinkler system need to be?

The trenches required for the irrigation system are relatively shallow ranging from 6-12 inches deep depending on where you live, temperatures, etc.

What are the best irrigation system brands?

We use only the best brands and parts when installing our systems including RainBird and Toro Products.

Do I need to be home while your installing my irrigation system?

No. You will not need to be home while we are trenching and installing the heads; however, we will need access to your garage in order to install the controller and complete your installation.

Do I need to winterize my irrigation system every year?

Yes. The system has to be winterized each year. We will take care of it for the first season at no cost to you if bill is paid at time of completion.

Does my irrigation system come with a warranty or guarantee?

Yes. All materials and workmanship are guaranteed 100% for two years from the date of installation (not covering lightning damage).

Will installing an irrigation system ruin my lawn/grass?

No. We use a $25,000 trenching machine that pulls the water line through the ground with minimal disruption/damage to your lawn.

Do I have to be home for service requests / repair?

No. Depending on the service needed, you most likely don’t need to be home.
